While Santa's elves are busy organising Christmas presents for boys and girls everywhere, little helpers from all over Sydney are assisting The Salvation Army's Oasis Youth Support Network to pack the thousands of Woolworths Carols in the Domain candlebags.

As we speak, teams at Woolworths are madly packing some 9,000 bags full of goodies donated by various companies across Australia which will be sold at Woolworths Carols in the Domain. The funds raised through the sale of these candlebags will contribute to the Oasis Youth Support Network which helps disconnected, disadvantaged and homeless young people get back on their feet.

Ashley Maine is a very lucky 22 year old man, who can attest to the importance of Oasis and their programs.

Ashley was hit by a car on a level crossing by a drunk when he was a child. The result was horrific injuries and severe brain trauma which resulted in him losing six months of his life to a coma.

"Ashley was told that he'd never be able to work, his brain damage was so severe," said OASIS' Captain Paul Moulds. "We saw potential in Ashley and recommended him for Oasis' Employment Program, which provides the skills, support and resources to place or return youths to the workforce, who have been disconnected or removed
from the process by some experience or trauma."

Following his completion of the Oasis Employment Program, Ashley is now employed by Woolworths and is selfsufficient, living in his own house. This is an achievement that once seemed unachievable to Ashley.

"I can't thank Paul and everyone at Oasis and Woolworths enough," said Ashley. "They've given me hope and helped direct me to get and maintain a good job that is what I needed to get my life back on track."

"The support that we receive from Woolworths Carols in the Domain each year is invaluable to our continuing operation," said Captain Moulds.

Woolworths Carols in the Domain is on Saturday 19th December, broadcast live on the Seven Network from 8:30pm and simulcast on MIX 106.5 in Sydney. Print media partner The Sun Herald will print the official Woolworths Carols in the Domain songbook in their edition on Sunday 13th December.

Woolworths Carols in the Domain brings Australians together to celebrate the songs and spirit of Christmas. It also provides crucial support to The Oasis Youth Support Network, The Salvation Army's response to youth homelessness.

Attendance of the live event at Sydney's Domain is free and provides all the family with festive entertainment. Pre-show children's entertainment begins at the Domain at 3pm. Arriving early is recommended to secure a good position.

Woolworths Carols in the Domain is proudly presented by Telstra and MLC.
