You know the name... Engelbert Humperdinck joins Carols cast!
Legendary entertainer Engelbert Humperdinck is the latest international guest to join the cast of Australia's largest free public event Woolworths Carols in the Domain.
Engelbert, who has enjoyed worldwide success since the 1960s, is best known for a string of hits including ‘Please Release Me', ‘A Man Without Love' and ‘Quando, Quando, Quando'.
"It's been a while since I was last in Australia. I love it - especially at Christmas time," said Engelbert. "For a guy who spent most of his life in the UK, the idea of forty degree days in the festive season is a little strange to me," he laughed.
Engelbert is joined by UK soprano Katherine Jenkins, Australian Idol winner Stan Walker, Leo Sayer, Adam Brand, The McClymonts, Georgie Parker, Kasey Chambers, Justine Clarke, Home and Away's Rebecca Breeds, Australia's Got Talent winner Mark Vincent and the cast of Wicked the Musical. Kate Ceberano will perform a virtual duet with the UK's Ronan Keating. Chrildren's favourites The Wiggles join Woolworths Carols in the Domain for the 17th consecutive year.
"I really enjoy performing at Christmas, the songs are so special and the audience responds uniquely," said Engelbert.
"I can't give away what I'll be singing on the night, but I can say that it is a mix of traditional and not so traditional," he added.
"I never dreamed that the legendary Engelbert Humperdinck would walk onto the stage at Woolworths Carols in the Domain," said the event's Co-Executive Producer, Shauna Kane. "We are just so honoured."
Woolworths Carols in the Domain is on Saturday 19th December, broadcast live on the Seven Network from 8:30pm and simulcast on MIX 106.5 in Sydney. Print media partner The Sun Herald will print the official Woolworths Carols in the Domain songbook in their edition on Sunday 13th December.
Attendance of the live event at Sydney's Domain is free and provides all the family with festive entertainment. Pre-show children's entertainment begins at the Domain at 3pm. Arriving early is recommended to secure a good position.
Woolworths Carols in the Domain is proudly presented by MLC and Telstra.
